Recently, China's first fully automated heavy-duty shelving storage center was officially put into operation in the Lingang New Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. This project is jointly developed by a leading domestic logistics equipment enterprise and an e-commerce giant, marking a significant breakthrough in China's core technology field of intelligent warehousing.

The warehouse covers an area of 50000 square meters and is equipped with a super high-rise heavy-duty crossbeam shelving system with over 100000 storage spaces. The shelving height reaches 24 meters and its load-bearing capacity far exceeds traditional shelving. The maximum load-bearing capacity of a single layer can reach 2 tons. The biggest difference from ordinary warehouses is that it is equipped with a completely self-developed "central nervous system" - an intelligent warehouse management platform, as well as over 200 heavy-duty stacker cranes with 3D visual recognition and autonomous decision-making capabilities.

In traditional warehousing, the entry, inventory, sorting, and exit of goods are highly dependent on manual labor, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to errors. In this intelligent warehouse, unmanned operations are implemented throughout the entire process from truck unloading: unmanned forklifts transport the entire load of goods to the storage platform, 3D scanners automatically recognize the size and barcode information of the goods, and the system instantly assigns the optimal storage location for the goods; Subsequently, the high-speed stacker crane precisely shuttles along the track in the 24 meter high shelf aisle, smoothly storing and unloading goods at a speed of 5 meters per second. In the outbound process, multiple robots work together to automatically combine goods on different shelves according to orders, and directly sort and distribute them to the shipping area.

According to the operator, the system dynamically optimizes storage layout through artificial intelligence algorithms, increasing warehouse space utilization to 92%, which is nearly 40% higher than traditional warehouses. More importantly, the overall operational efficiency has achieved a leap: the daily processing capacity can reach 200000 pieces, the order processing speed has been reduced from the traditional hourly level to the minute level, the comprehensive efficiency has increased by more than 300%, and the labor cost has been reduced by 70%. This warehouse will mainly serve the supply chain of high-end manufacturing, automotive parts, and cross-border e-commerce enterprises in the East China region.

Industry experts point out that the successful implementation of this project not only solves the global problem of low automation level in heavy cargo warehousing, but also breaks the long-term technological monopoly of foreign countries with its domestically developed core software and hardware system, providing a "Chinese solution" for upgrading the global logistics and warehousing industry. It is expected that this model will be rapidly promoted in major logistics hubs across the country, promoting the acceleration of China's modern logistics system towards intelligence and greenness.
